It seems like today is a ‘pop culture reference day‘ with the “Great Gasby” wedding preceding this “My Fair Lady” styled shoot. But no one is complaining! It’s nice to see the books or movies we liked be interpreted for weddings, especially those that are aesthetically rich and has a signature styling. One of My Fair Lady’s most known style is the black and white pairing and this shoot made use of that without compromising elegance and not making things look like Hamburglar’s dream. Everything looked so sleek then matched the floral accents, it became perfect inspiration for any (and I mean ANY) type of wedding. Audrey Hepburn would be so proud. Enjoy this feature dear readers – we sure did!

What inspired the wedding day outfits?
We added striped details to the gorgeous Hayley Paige gown to make the dress reminiscent of the ascot dress that Audrey Hepburn wore so well in the horse race scene in My Fair Lady. And what is a derby themed shoot without a hat? The florist added fresh florals to the vintage derby hat to tie together the bride’s hat and bouquet. Keeping with the glam derby feel we also added an ascot to the grooms wardrobe instead of using a typical tie or bow tie.
What was your favorite part of the day?
One of my favourite parts of the day was definitely watching the gorgeous floral wreath being fitted on the horse. The florist had put so much time and care into it. The moment it went on, we all gasped. There may have even been a few tears shed by Christina with Classic Creations Floral Design.
Was there any Do it Yourself (DIY) projects? If so, can you describe them in detail?
We used a vintage horse hat pin as the boutonnière to keep with derby theme. Not only stylish but practical as it was a great way to fasten the boutonniere to the lapel. The table place cards were horse figures that were spray painted gold to match the subtle gold details in the stationary.
Was there a theme for the ceremony and reception?
The decor stylist and stationary designer pulled the stripe details from the dress into the place settings and stationary with little details of gold. Bright and vibrant florals were added to offset the black and white details.
