Minimalistic has been the trend for quite a while now – may it come to interior designing, architecture, and now even weddings! Not only does it mean less stress for our brides and planners but there’s always some sort of elegance that comes with being minimalistic. I guess it’s because nothing is overshadowing something and all the details’ good sides are emphasized. For example, I love our bride’s sleek, sophisticated and minimalistic hair style for it gave us a clear view of her big smiles! It was a simple day but undeniably elegant. Congratulations Allison & Reid!
Bride
I was living in New York City and a short time after my 30th birthday I agreed to go on a blind date with “a nice guy, who has a good job, originally from Pittsburgh.” That was all I needed to hear to say yes. I’d never been on a blind date before but I thought I had nothing to lose. To my surprise the first date went well and I didn’t want the night to end. Apparently he didn’t either because I heard from him the next day and we quickly had our second and third dates. Reid and I both knew early on that we wanted to spend the rest of our lives together and we didn’t hesitate to start planning our new life together.
As far as style goes, we easily agreed on the aesthetic. We both appreciate clean and minimal so we decided on ivory, champagne and green as our color palette. This complimented the historic Inn where we hosted the weekend. During the wedding planning process I focused on ways to make our guests feel connected to us, and to surprise them with little unique details. The venue was an important decision because we had our ceremony and reception here, which was enchanting and had character bursting from every angle. The rooms were quaint and perfectly fit our 100 guests. We wrote our vows because we wanted to show a glimpse into the relationship that we are both so fond and proud of. Because we were on a budget, every detail that we used had to be multi functional. For example, my bridesmaids carried a floral decorated clutch instead of a bouquet of flowers, this was also their bridesmaid gift. The table setting was something I struggled with because I felt a pressure to overdecorate but instead we decided on a green wine glass at each setting which was a part of the color scheme as well as the wedding favor. Each glass had a wine tag with their name in calligraphy on it to denote their place card as well. All of this took time to plan but it was worth it and paid off in the end.
